Fridays at One is an opportunity to join the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS) in Glasgow as they showcase talent from their students, faculty, alumni and guest artists. Coming up: Ethan David Loch, piano (pictured), 29th Sept; Ewan Hastie, double bass, 6th Oct; Lewis Banks, saxophone, 13th Oct; Peter Johnstone’s International Organ Quartet, 20th Oct; Sinae Lee & Sasa Gerzelj-Donaldson, piano on 27th Oct.
The RCS is a conservatoire of dance, drama, music, production and film. Founded in 1847, it is the busiest performing arts venue in Scotland with over 500 public performances each year. The current Principal is American pianist and composer Jeffrey Sharkey. The long list of alumni who have gone on to have successful careers includes Jack Bruce (Cream), Alexander Gibson (conductor), opera singers Isobel Buchanan and Karen Cargill, Kate Dickie (Game of Thrones), Alison Brie (Mad Men), Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad), Siobhan Miller (the only three-time Best Singer winner at the Scots Trad Music Awards) and actors David Tenant, James McAvoy, Alan Cumming, Tom Conti and Robert Carlyle.
