This year celebrating its 40th anniversary, Colinton Arts in Edinburgh’s historic Colinton village has been extensively renovated and is reopening as a dedicated gallery with a framing and artwork restoration service. Walls have been removed and the ceiling raised to enlarge the display space and reveal some of the building’s original period features. The gallery will show work by established international contemporary artists and offer early-career artists the opportunity to exhibit and develop their practices.

Colinton resident and regular customer John Byrne was on-hand to cut the ribbon on the gallery’s preview night, 6th October and open the inaugural exhibition, People, Places, Perspectives, which features work by local artists Alan Lennon, Arie Vardi and Stephen Howard Harrison. Alan Lennon specialises in figurative art through painting, sculpture and photomontage (People), Chilean-born Arie Vardi expresses the elemental form of nature through vibrant west coast landscapes (Places) and Stephen Howard Harrison paints Edinburgh cityscapes in warm summer colours or a fresh winter palette (Perspectives).
