Frames Gallery in Perth is presenting forty works in its first solo exhibition by Gordon Slater. The Gallery’s owner Hugh Gorin says, ‘It is always exciting when we discover an artist whose work we love and yet has not exhibited much and is not particularly well known. I first saw Gordon’s work as part of an exhibition by printmakers who worked out of Dunfermline Print Studio. His etchings stood out as not only technically accomplished, but very beautiful. Consequently, we showed his prints in mixed exhibitions. However, one time he asked if he could submit some paintings and they were as lovely as his etchings. It is quite unusual to have an artist who is equally good at both.’
