The newly-opened Studio 44 Gallery in Largs, Ayrshire, is hosting an exhibition by Roddy McKenzie. Ayrshire-born, Roddy graduated in 1982 with a BA (Hons) degree in Fine Art from Glasgow School of Art. Early in his professional life he studied portraiture, but has become increasingly drawn towards landscapes and townscapes. His work has taken him throughout the UK, Europe and America. Returning to Burns country has inspired some of his most innovative and exciting works to date.
This exhibition features street scenes created mainly with a palette knife, a style of work which requires speed and accuracy and brings movement and life to his figures, a challenging technique as the image he sees is continually changing.
