Billed as ‘music to warm your soul in the depths of winter’, Scottish Ensemble‘s Scotland-wide tour of Concerts by Candlelight returns to awe-inspiring churches and cathedrals across Scotland with the warm glow of candlelight illuminating vibrant compositions, such as a brand-new work by Glasgow-based composer David Fennessy, among a vast range of atmospheric works by Johann Sebastian Bach, Philip Glass and Caroline Shaw.
The concerts are a testament to the special kind of hushed calm that comes when hundreds of people listen together in this kind of atmosphere. The tour takes in Aberdeen St. Machar’s Cathedral, Inverness Cathedral, Dundee St Mary’s Parish Church, Perth St. John’s Kirk, Edinburgh Greyfriars Kirk, finishing at Glasgow Wellington Church.
