Scottish Ensemble has announced its 2023/2024 season. First half season highlights include:

Season opener The String Quartet: A Blueprint (9th – 14th Sept), which sees the Ensemble stripped back to its most intimate setting with works ranging from Beethoven’s sixth quartet to infectious, West African drumming patterns and chant motifs by Jessie Montgomery’s Voodoo Dolls to Dvorák’s traditional folk-infused ‘American‘ quartet.

A collaborative concert tour with sitarist Jasdeep Singh Degun (4th – 8th Oct), one of the UK’s leading voices in the Indian classical tradition, playing pieces from his album Anomaly.

in Sync returns after its debut last season (4th – 9th Nov) in which first-time classical music audiences and established listeners are taken on a whistle-stop tour of classical and folk music from around the world performed entirely from memory with players free to move around, allowing a story to be told by more than just the music and bringing audiences closer to the musicians.

Bookending the winter and summer solstices are the ever popular Concerts by Candlelight (8th – 13th Dec) and Concerts for a Summer’s Night (17th – 21st June, 2024).
