Celebrating sixty years of new writing and innovative theatre, this year’s Travfest features a world premiere, four Scottish premieres and the return of two Fringe hits as well as several home-grown showcases.
They include: The Grand Old Opera House Hotel by Olivier Award-winner Isobel McArthur, an ensemble comedy exploring how art can bring us together in the most hopeless of circumstances; Sean and Daro Flake It ‘Til They Make It, in which two young aspiring Glasgow ice cream impresarios look for a way out of their humdrum lives; Thrown, which sees five wildly different women gather in the muddy fields of the Highland Games circuit to compete in the obscure art of backhold wrestling; No Love Songs, inspired by the real life experiences of two new parents grappling with the challenges of parenthood and post-natal depression and featuring songs by The View’s Kyle Falconer; and Heaven, in which an Irish couple with marriage problems attend a wedding which raises difficult questions.
