Dunedin Consort has launched its 2023-24 season with a brochure featuring fifteen newly-commissioned artworks by abstract painter Kirsty Matheson, each one representing one of the pieces the ensemble will perform over the course of the next season, at venues throughout Scotland and London.

Highlights include: the launch of a three-year commissioning programme, beginning with a new guitar concerto for Sean Shibe by the Canadian composer Cassandra Miller; the second year of a partnership with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, with a side-by-side performance of Heiner Goebbels’ Songs of War I Have Seen based on the war-time diaries of Gertrude Stein; an all-female song programme centred around the Italian Baroque composer and singer Barbara Strozzi with soprano Nardus Williams; J S Bach’s complete orchestral suites at the Edinburgh International Festival; and Leipzig 300, a programme marking the 300th anniversary of Bach’s appointment as Director of Music for the city’s principal churches. The fully illustrated 2023-24 season brochure with Kirsty Matheson’s artworks is now online.
