Following a sold-out run at Edinburgh’s Fringe last year, celebrated Scottish harpist Esther Swift is to tour Scotland with a series of intimate solo shows: the composer, musician and singer will perform a programme of original compositions and traditional works, building on her recent commissions from Celtic Connections, Hidden Door Festival, Manchester Jazz Festival and The Edwin Morgan Trust. Her unique approach, which invites comparison to Bjork, Kate Bush and Anna Meredith, spans folk, classical and jazz, will feature a number of poems set to music. Starting in Edinburgh, the tour heads north to take in Caithness, Letham, Craigmonie, Skye, Uig, North Uist, Lochgilphead and Mull, facilitated by The Touring Network’s Supported Programme and Scotland on Tour, both of which help to bring top-level concert performances to rural areas.
