Colin Gray: Caught Between, at Street Level Photoworks in Glasgow showcases the work of Colin Gray. While building a career as a commercial photographer in London in the 1980s, Colin Gray travelled home at weekends to Hull, where he took photographs of his parents, Ron and Rene. Long before this kind of project became fashionable, they became his collaborators, helping to invent whimsical tableaux for him to capture.

As the years went on, the photographs continued, becoming more poignant as they documented the challenges of old age, failing health and, eventually, Rene’s death. Following previous exhibitions at Street Level Photoworks – The Parents in 1997 and In Sickness and in Health in 2010 – Caught Between brings the story up to date, featuring Gray himself, who is now based in Scotland, along with his father and his son.
