Edinburgh’s Dundas Street in the UNESCO-listed New Town (NT) boasts the highest concentration of art galleries in the capital, and a stroll down that Georgian boulevard and the surrounding area takes in a broad spectrum of art available in independent spaces in Scotland today.
Returning for a second year, NT Art Month involves some of Edinburgh’s leading galleries, most of which are staging special exhibitions. They include & Gallery, the Scottish Gallery, the Fine Art Society, Harvey & Woodd and Heriot Gallery (all on Dundas Street), Open Eye Gallery (Abercromby Place), Powderhall Bronze Editions (Summer Place), Atelier Gallery (Howard Street) and Watson Gallery (Queen Street).

New this year to NT Art Month, which is sponsored by Investec Wealth & Investment (UK), are: Art in Healthcare, which shows part of its large art collection in health and social care environments to improve patients’ and residents’ mental and physical health and is offering opening night tours of the collection in its York Place HQ; and Good Brothers Wine Bar in Stockbridge, which is hosting a n exhibition by Pauliina Marjanen.
