One of the first groups to exhibit in the 1970s in the newly-created Maclaurin Galleries, the Ayr Sketch Club show has been an annual fixture ever since. Founded in 1901, the group was ‘open to gentlemen who are artists or amateur artists, resident in the County of Ayrshire’. Women were admitted from 1907. Works by around fifty members, which now embrace all media, are spread across three galleries. The Club is also showing an exhibition at Studio 44 in Largs.
