Scotland’s largest open studios weekend Spring Fling this year sees a record-breaking number of participants, with over 100 artists and craftmakers across Dumfries & Galloway, from Moffat in the east to Stranraer in the west. They’ll be opening their workspaces to the public to offer an insight into their creative practice, discuss their inspirations and influences and give visitors the opportunity to buy a special gift or commission a unique piece.

The event has also launched Virtual Studios, enabling browsers to pay an online visit to participating studios before deciding who to go and see in person, while bus tours are being organised to enable visitors to reach artists working in more isolated locations, making for a more relaxing day than self-drive and reducing vehicle emissions.

As part of this year’s Spring Fling artist Kerry Samantha Boyes is opening the UK’s first Fake Food Store in Kirkcudbright. Her delicacies, made from materials such as painted resins, featured in the Barbie movie.
