Argyll’s Cowal Open Studios Weekend event will showcase the work of the professional artists and craftspeople who work on the Cowal peninsula in Argyll on Scotland’s west coast.

Established in 2004 and one of the largest open studio events in the UK, NEOS North-East Open Studios will proceed this year, with Covid measures in place, and over 180 artists and spaces participating. 12 – 20 Sep.

Autumn brings the close of open studios season, when artists and makers welcome the public into their work spaces to see behind the scenes, talk to them about their work and buy or commission an original piece.

A weekend promising an enormous range of exhibitions, events, workshops and music, hosted in homes, businesses and community spaces centred around Edinburgh’s Abbeyhill Colonies.

An annual landmark event for arts and crafts in north east Scotland, NEOS 2019 boasts almost 320 participants this year, making it one of the largest open studio events in the UK.

With the stunning scenery of Perthshire and Kinross-shire as its backdrop, this annual 9-day event features over 200 artists, and 141 venues to explore.

The beautiful Cowal peninsula in magnificent Argyll is the setting for a four-day annual opening of artists’ studios, with workshops, demonstrations and a wide range of first-class work in paint, glass, ceramics, textiles, wood and more.

Combining the ancient technique of wheel engraving with the cutting edge technology of LED lighting, Alison Kinnaird MBE’s exhibition and open studio at Temple, Midlothian, showcases glasswork ranging from small intimate pieces to larger architectural projects.

Leith’s Coburg House Studios is opening its doors this weekend giving an opportunity to see the work of over eighty artists working in an enormous variety of disciplines.

In the Scottish Borders, you can see textiles by Pauline Burbidge, drawing and sculpture by Charles Paulsen and animated film by guest artist David Martin at Allanbank Mill Steading.

Hop on a ferry and head for Arran Open Studios, when artist and makers welcome visitors to “Scotland in miniature”.
