The 2024 Scottish International Storytelling Festival centres around the theme of Bridges Between – its 35th anniversary coinciding with the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. Since 1989, the Festival has been building bridges between cultures, artists and audiences all over the world through the power of storytelling, and connecting past, present and future. This year the invitation is to everyone to look beyond contemporary boundaries.
The Festival kicks off on 18th Oct with Mending Nets with Palestinian poet and dancer Nada Shawa and Scottish storyteller Janis Mackay, followed by a host of new commissions throughout the Festival, hosted by myriad storytellers, with something for all ages and tastes in a full programme of events (see website, left). A downloadable brochure has the full list of events.

The Festival is accompanied by an exhibition of visual art by Sarah McFadyen at the Storytelling Centre. A Festival Pass is available, offering discounts to many events and at the Storytelling Centre’s bookshop and Haggis Box Café.
